Southampton Street Pastors is a charity run by Christians in Southampton. We have over 30 churches working on this, each one praying, providing volunteers, and many also giving financially. This act of unity is having a profound effect on all of us who are involved and also it speaks volumes to the people on the street when we say we are not from A church but from THE churches. Thank you for praying - please don't stop! We are totally reliant upon prayer for the success of Street Pastors. It would be great if you could find a way to regularly pray for Street Pastors as a church, whether occasionally in services, or making our monthly prayer letter available to members of your congregation. Volunteers
All street pastors, and the prayer team that backs them up, are volunteers. They give many hours to their initial training and then go on duty once per month, from 10pm to 4am. We have been blessed with some excellent people, but need to recruit more each year to keep numbers up in the face of changing circumstances. We only allow people to become Street Pastors or join the prayer team if they are committed to a church and have the backing of their leaders, so please consider whether this is something that you could recommend to members of your congregation. Our next training for Street Pastors will be in January 2012, so if you would be willing to have someone from Street Pastors show a DVD or give a presentation in late 2011 that would be amazing - please get in touch! Finance We are a charity entirely funded by grants and donations. The total of cost of operations and administration is approximately £4,000 per month. We benefited from statutory grants to help us get established in 2009, but these are largely ceasing and we must become self-supporting. We are asking individuals, churches and businesses to consider committing to supporting us with a regular donation in order that we can continue operating for the rest of this year and into the future. We are hoping for
