Funding Campaign 2011

To administer the charity and pay for all running costs we need approximately £4,000 per month, totalling £48,000 over the next year. As we began the year (March 2011) we were facing a shortfall equivalent to £3,045 per month - things were looking dire.

Our plan
We are entirely funded by grants and donations. This is how we are hoping to raise the money:
  • Individuals: £12,000 over the year - this is our "Be 1 of the 100" campaign, looking for 100 people do donate e.g. £10/month.
  • Churches: £10,000 over the year - we are appealing to Southampton's churches to consider giving us a regular donation.
  • Businesses: £12,000 over the year - we have had 2 night clubs pledge an annual donation and we are looking for more to join them.
  • Grants and Trusts: £8,000 over the year - we continue to go for any grants that we are eligible for, as we don't yet have the support we need from regular donations.

Our progress
At the start of February, our shortfall is now £1,500/month for the rest of the year. We have done well to survive this far, but we still have a way to go.

What has the journey been like?
  • We had a funding strategy to implement, as outlined above.
  • We appealed to the Churches of Southampton to pray for us.
  • In April we received an unexpected grant of £1,000/month from the Community Safety Fund - this was the miracle that kept us afloat at the start of the year.
  • On May 15th we had our first Street Pastor Sunday, where many churches remembered us in prayer and held a collection.
  • We have had many more ad hoc donations than expected.
  • The generous support of the Square and 90 Degrees night clubs has been very significant and for the rest of the year we will be canvassing other businesses for support.
  • The "Be 1 of the 100" campaign is gaining momentum, by the end of January it was raising £690/month
  • Several churches have been able to commit to regular support, and that is now at £400/month

Here you can compare the latest position relative to our targets for the year. We have not made any noticeable progress on our shortfall since July.
