Street Pastors

Want to help?

We often have enquiries from people who want to join the team, either to go out onto the streets or to come and pray throughout the evening.

All street pastors and prayer team members have to belong to a local church and be recommended and supported by their church leaders.

When you become a Street Pastor, the first priority is to make sure that you are properly trained, so that you are able to stay safe and know the best ways to help people. We currently start the Street Pastor training process once a year. We have already started the 2011 training, which is running across 4 weekends in May and June, after which the new volunteers will be put into a team and start going out on patrol once a month. There will be another 2 training weekends in October, after which they will become officially qualified Street Pastors.

If you are interested in becoming a Street Pastor in 2012, please contact us to request more information and an application form. You can e-mail southampton@streetpastors.org.uk, call 023 8033 3387, or write to Southampton Street Pastors, George Williams House, Cranbury Place, Southampton, SO14 0LG.

Prior to the training it would be great to join the prayer team. This means that you can be involved immediately, and get to know the people and the way things work.

If you cannot or do not want to become a Street Pastor, please do join the prayer team. The team pray whilst the Street Pastors are out patrolling, and it is an essential part of the work that we do to ask God to be involved in protecting and guiding the Street Pastors, and in caring for the people that we meet.
